Citadel shooter Hunton wins national title
CAMP PERRY, OHIO — Citadel sophomore shooter Richard Hunton fired an impressive mark of 2,333 to win the national title and six award points at the National Rifle Association’s Prone Metallic Sight Championship on Tuesday.
Hunton’s score will count toward his national average, earning him his first varsity letter in his collegiate career.
“The fact that he was able to shoot a personal best in air rifle and shoot a qualifying score for his team letter showed that the trigger time and focus of the championships befefited both shooting disciplines,” said Bulldogs head coach William C. Smith.
Baker, Glaze join Citadel radio team
Two names familiar to Bulldogs fans have been added to the radio broadcasts for the 2012 season, it was announced by Kirkman Broadcasting and The Citadel.
Former sports information director Josh Baker and athletic Hall of Fame member Lee Glaze will join Danny Reed and Walt Nadzak on the broadcasts for all 11 games this season.
Reed is back for his second season as the “Voice of the Bulldogs.” Baker and Nadzak will handle The Citadel Tailgate Show, halftime and postgame shows with Baker providing color commentary during the game broadcast. Glaze will be reporting from The Citadel sideline.
Clemson releases basketball schedule
CLEMSON — The Clemson men’s basketball team will host Purdue (Nov. 28) and Arizona (Dec. 8) and also play 18 ACC games for the first time in school history as the conference has expanded its regular season schedule for the 2012-13 season.
The final schedule will be released by the end of August after television games have been chosen.
In ACC play, Clemson will host Boston College, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Miami, North Carolina, N.C. State, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
Clemson opens play Nov. 12 at home against Presbyterian.
