Former South Carolina wide receiver O.J. Murdock dies in apparent suicide

Former South Carolina wide receiver O.J. Murdock was found dead this morning in his car with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Former South Carolina wide receiver O.J. Murdock was found dead this morning in his car with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, accoring to police in Tampa, Fla.

Police said Orenthal James Murdock, 25, was inside his car parked in front of his former high school in Tampa when they discovered him at 8:30 a.m. He died at the hospital about two hours later.

Murdock signed with the NFL's Tennessee Titans last summer and was on the team's current roster. He was a redshirt freshman for the Gamecocks in 2006, when he was kicked off the team for disciplinary reasons. Also on that 2006 USC team was wide receiver Kenny McKinley, who died of a self-inflicted gunshot in 2010 while a member of the Denver Broncos.
