North Charleston police are investigating a shooting in the Oakleaf Estates neighborhood near Northside drive this morning.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the area of Oakleaf Drive and Angel Court shortly before midnight, spokesman Spencer Pryor said.

Witnesses told police a light-colored Mercury Marquis was at a stop sign when gunshots rang out, striking a passenger in the vehicle.

The vehicle then left the area, transporting the victim to a nearby hospital before officers arrived, Pryor said.

The victim did not cooperate with police while interviewed, Pryor said.
