Four Tigers make All-ACC preseason team

CLEMSON — Four Clemson football players were named to the Atlantic Coast Conference’s all-conference preseason team Wednesday: receiver Sammy Watkins, running back Andre Ellington, center Dalton Freeman and quarterback Tajh Boyd.

Watkins’ selection should come as no surprise as he was named the ACC’s Preseason Player of the Year on Monday.

But Boyd beat out a deep quarterback field to earn the preseason honor. Boyd (31 touchdowns, 12 interceptions) led Clemson to an 8-0 start last season before fading in the second half of the season.

Ellington is hoping to stay healthy for a full season and build on his 1,100 yard rushing campaign last season.

Watkins caught 82 passes for 1,219 yards as a freshman last season.
