'Sweet Cream and Sugar Cones: 90 Recipes for Making Your Own Ice Cream and Frozen Treats from Bi-Rite Creamery.” A San Francisco favorite, Bi-Rite is known for local sourcing, incredible flavors and a celebrated ice cream cake. Owners Kris Hoogerhyde and Anne Walker open their book with techniques because although they were accomplished pastry chefs and bakers, they had to learn the technique of using a commercial ice-cream maker on their own. Then they move to recipes.

But don't worry, the recipes are for home cooks.

Not only are there tantalizing ice creams, there are recipes for pops, sorbets, granitas, sauces, cones, ice-cream sandwiches, ice-cream pies, ice-cream cheesecake and the renowned ice-cream cake. Just reading it, I am much more in need of ice cream. Hardcover. Ten Speed Press. $24.99.

“People's Pops: Recipes for Ice Pops, Shave Ice, and Boozy Pops From Brooklyn's Coolest Pop Shop.” If the book is any indication, owners Nathalie Jordi, David Carrell and Joel Horowitz share my penchant for caramel, as there are both salted caramel and apple and salted caramel and apricot pops.

They present the flavors by season, so summer actually contains divine combos like Cantaloupe and Campari, Watermelon and Lemongrass, and Blueberries and Moonshine. Shaved ice beckons with Peach and Prosecco and Lemon Mint. Chill. Hardcover. Ten Speed Press. $16.99.
