North Charleston police are looking for a man who robbed a Dollar General store at gunpoint Thursday night.

To offer tips

Anyone with information on the holdup should call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.

Shortly after 10 p.m., a clerk at the 2080 Northbrook Drive store went outside to bring in a rolling cart and propped the front door open.

As the clerk was attempting to bring the cart inside, a man approached and forced her into the store with another clerk who was counting the proceeds in the register drawer, police said.

The robber pulled out a small pistol and demanded money, police said. He then grabbed the cash and ran from the store toward Rivers Avenue, they said.

The robber was described as a very light-skinned black man, about 6 feet 3 inches tall and about 250 pounds, with a solid, stocky build.

He was last seen wearing a blue or black-and-white bandanna over his face, a black shirt, stonewashed gray jeans, black shoes, a Pittsburgh Pirates baseball hat and gloves.
