NC man found with 128 marijuana plants in SC
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte man has been arrested after drug enforcement agents found 128 marijuana plants growing in a South Carolina home.
Twenty-seven-year-old Calvin Dai Hoang (Die Hwong) was arrested Tuesday and charged with trafficking and manufacturing marijuana.
The plants were valued at more than $250,000. Officials say the marijuana was primarily sold in Charlotte.
Agents say the Rock Hill, S.C., home was lined with reflective paper and had a “sophisticated” filtration system to cover the marijuana smell.
Hoang rented the two-story home. Agents say his neighbors had no idea Hoang was growing marijuana.
The agents were tipped off to Hoang’s marijuana by narcotics agents in Charlotte.
It was not clear if Hoang has a lawyer.
