The Univeristy of South Carolina has selected two-time College World Series champion baseball coach Ray Tanner as its new athletic director and assistant coach Chad Holbrook to replace Tanner, according to multiple reports.

Tanner, the Gamecocks’ head baseball coach from 1997 through a third straight College World Series finals appearance last month, takes over for Eric Hyman, who left to take the athletic director job at Texas A&M.

Holbrook is widely considered one of the top recruiters in college baseball and was on the staff when South Carolina won national titles in 2010 and 2011.

Tanner reportedly will be introduced at a news conference on Friday following a Board of Trustees meeting. Tentative plans are for Holbrook to have his official news conference on Monday.
