Pinewood Prep grad receives Marine Corps scholarship
The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation has announced that Sterling “Marty” Liner of Summerville has been awarded a $2,500 scholarship for the 2012-13 academic year.
Liner was awarded the scholarship based on academics, community service, personal background, teacher and coach references and personal employment record.
Scholarship recipients must be children of current or former members of the Marine Corps.
Liner, son of Faye and Robert Liner of Summerville, is a 2012 graduate of Pinewood Preparatory School. At Pinewood, he served as a member of Student Government and the Pinewood Ambassadors Representatives for four years, including ambassadors president in his senior year; was awarded the Headmaster’s Gold community Service Award; lettered in varsity swimming; was a delegate to the 2011 Palmetto Boys State; and was a member of the Senior Beta Club.
Liner will be a freshman at the University of South Carolina Darla Moore School of Business in August.
