Former Tigers football player Mayberry dies
Former Clemson offensive tackle Bob Mayberry, who played on the program’s 1981 national title team, died Tuesday morning after a long fight with cancer, Clemson announced.
Mayberry, 51, played in 39 games over the four years, 20 as a starter. The Tigers had a 35-10-1 record for the four years Mayberry played.
Mayberry started on Clemson’s 1982 ACC title team and was a reserve on the 1981 national title team.
Mayberry ran a succesful car dealership in the Monroe, N.C., after graduating from Clemson.
New Life Football League to hold camps
The New Life Football League will host its first set of camps on July 21 in Sanford, N.C., and Aug. 4 at Danny Jones in North Charleston.
The camp will have three parts: football skills, a cancer walk and school supplies give-away.
Registration will be held from 8 a.m. until 8:45 a.m. the day of the camp.
