ANDERSON — Three people have been charged with kidnapping in the case of an Anderson businessman missing for more than a week.

Deputies said Monday that 22-year-old Kyndra Howell and 29-year-old Christian Johnson had been arrested and charged with holding Chandrakant “C.J.” Patel against his will. A 17-year-old male was also arrested.

Authorities say the 53-year-old gas station manager was last seen July 1 when he told a clerk he’d return to the gas station in a few hours but never came back.

Authorities say Patel is seen on surveillance video going into Howell’s home with her but never coming out. Patel’s car was found in Fairplay last week.

All three suspects were in jail waiting for a bond hearing. It wasn’t known if they had attorneys.
