Nations top recruit Nkemdiche not totally committed to Clemson
Defensive end Robert Nkemdiche of Loganville, Ga., the nation’s top-rated player who committed to Clemson earlier this summer, said Friday he’s not totally committed to the Tigers and won’t be unless they offer his teammate, defensive back Ryan Carter.
“I am waiting on Clemson to offer Ryan; when that happens, it’s locked … it’s a done deal … it’s over,” Nkemdiche told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Clemson has already offered and taken commitments from two other teammates of Nkemdiche, running back Wayne Gallman and defensive back David Kamara. And another teammate, quarterback Nick Schuessler, is transferring from Mississippi State as a walk-on.
Carter said that he and Nkemdiche will visit Clemson on July 20.
“I think they will offer,” Carter said. “I feel like that’s somewhere I can play.”
Nkemdiche has a brother who plays at Mississippi, and the Rebels offered Carter the day after Nkemdiche committed to Clemson in June.
“If Clemson doesn’t offer Ryan, it would make me look at Ole Miss a little more, it would,” Nkemdiche said. “It’s very important that I have my boys with me.”
Carter said right now he’s favoring Ole Miss but that would change with a Clemson offer July 20. “I’m pretty sure it would be an automatic commitment to Clemson if they offered,” he said.
