Marley Lions mother asks anyone with information about her sons death to come forward
The mother of slain 17-year-old Marley Lion pleaded with anyone who knows information about her son’s death to share it with investigators.
Marley’s blood is on the hands of anyone who knows and doesn’t come forward, Elizabeth Paige said Tuesday during a press conference. A $13,000 reward is being offered for anyone with information that leads to a conviction.
Investigators still are looking for clues that would indicate who shot Lion five times on June 16 as he slept in his vehicle outside Famous Joe’s Bar and Grill, which is adjacent to the Ardmore neighborhood.
Police said they were especially interested in talking to a man seen on security camera footage walking by Lion’s vehicle shortly before another man shot him.
Police released the cell phone number - 607-6787 - of lead investigator Richard Burckhardt and asked for anyone with information to call it.
Mayor Joe Riley said investigators are using every tool available to them.
“We cannot rest until this vicious killer is brought to justice,” he said.
Divers again searched a pond in West Ashley’s Ardmore neighborhood for evidence based on a tip, officials said. It’s not known if anything was found in the larger of the two ponds authorities have searched in the past two days.
Divers in the pond off Mulberry Street found beer cans, an air pump and scrap metal, and joked about the critters they felt crawling on the murky bottom.
