Democratic Senate 41 candidate Paul Tinkler has received the endorsement from a Charleston teachers’ advocate.

Pat Hayes, a Charleston teacher and leader of the Restore Teachers Salaries advocacy group, endorsed Tinkler today. Tinkler faces a special July 17 election against Republican Walter Hundley for the remainder of the current Senate term. Tinkler is expected to face Republican Paul Thurmond on Nov. 6 for the full four-year term.

Tinkler said if elected, he would push to see every South Carolina child receives a first-class education and “that starts by ensuring our schools are fully funded and our teachers fully supported.”
