MOUNT PLEASANT ó Reel Passion added one sailfish release worth 200 points Saturday to capture the Carolina Billfish Classic, the third event in the 2012 South Carolina Governorís Cup Billfishing Series.
Reel Passion, owned by Bill Ingram and captained by Gary Richardson, finished the tournament with 1,600 points for releasing a blue marlin (600 points) and five sailfish.
Full Pull, owned by John Floyd and captained by Ryan Riggs, finished second based on time of release with 1,400 points for releasing one blue marlin and four sailfish. Syked Out, owned by David Sykes and captained by Dan Woody, also had 1,400 points for seven sailfish releases, five on Saturday.
Participants in the tournament released two blue marlin and 26 sailfish Saturday and had 69 billfish releases for the tournament.
In the non-billfish divisions, Syked Out won the wahoo award with a 50.4-pound catch.
The dolphin award went to Compromise with a 56.4-pound catch and Friday while Dem Boys won the tuna division with a 25.4-pound blackfin, also caught Friday.
The next Governorís Cup event is the MegaDock Tournament, which will be fished July 11-14 out of the Charleston City Marina.
