Singer Jewel to portray June Carter Cash on TV
Jewel will play June Carter Cash in the upcoming Lifetime movie “Ring of Fire.” The film examines her relationship with Johnny Cash, who was to become her third husband.
Jewel says she wasn’t sure what she wanted to do when she was young. “I was raised bar singing with my father since a very young age, and we made our money that way and I thought I’d make a living at it, I hoped. I didn’t think I was some national treasure waiting to be discovered. It’s not like I thought I was some world talent. I wasn’t very confident either. I sang all right but there’s a million people with good voices. ... I was practical about all that. I just loved doing it.”
