The Charleston area’s largest real estate firm hopes to sell more homes by catering to investors, who by some estimates now account for more than a quarter of all house purchases.

Carolina One Real Estate officials urged hundreds of agents who attended the company’s quarterly meeting this morning in North Charleston to sign up for seminars on real estate investing and network with potential investors.

Real estate personality Greg Rand, CEO of Own America, told the agents that Charleston is one of the nation’s best real estate investment markets. Rand, who appears on cable news shows and has written a book about the real estate boom he predicts, sells investor-oriented website software to agents.

“Charleston real estate is the safest big-yielding investment on the planet,” said Rand, who owns a home on Seabrook Island.

For firms like Carolina One, which offers property management services, investors can be a lucrative market because they might buy multiple homes, then hire the firm to manage them as rental properties.
