Guard Jordan Scott and forward James Carlton have been released from their basketball scholarships at the College of Charleston.

The school announced the departures Monday.

Scott is a 6-1 sophomore from Darlington who started 14 games for the Cougars last season. He averaged 3.8 points a game in 29 contests. Carlton is a 6-7 forward who averaged just over a point and a rebound a game as a reserve in 22 contests.

The school said Scott’s release came in March before new head coach Doug Wojcik was hired to take over following the retirement of Cougars coach Bobby Cremins.

Cremins stepped away from the team in January on a medical leave of absence. He retired two months later.
