‘Behind Bars’ For MDA
What: Business and community leaders will be “arrested” and hauled off to “jail” to raise “bail” for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Funds raised will be donated to help fund research for a cure, as well as benefit more than 300 families in the Lowcountry area by providing assistance in the purchase and maintenance of wheelchairs, leg braces and speech communication devices, MDA clinic visits and a weeklong summer camp for children and young adults living with muscle disorders.

Alzheimer’s Group
What: Caring for someone with Alzheimer’s can be both challenging and rewarding. By learning appropriate caregiving skills and being aware of resources that are available, you can make sure your loved one feels supported and is living a full life. Trident Senior Health has partnered with Agape Hospice and Home Instead Home Care to provide ongoing Alzheimer’s support group.

Clinical breast exams
What: Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital hosts a night dedicated to good breast health. Women 21 and up who have not had a clinical breast exam within the last 12 months can register. Participants will receive clinical breast exams administered by board-certified physicians. Registration is required.

Othersen Lecture
What: Meet author, historian and professor emeritus of pediatric surgery at MUSC Dr. H. Biemann Othersen. In “Centuries of Care,” Othersen tells a story of the devel-opment of medical care in Charleston from the earliest days up to the present, a period of more than 340 years. All book proceeds to benefit the Charleston County Medical Foundation.
