Mount Pleasant bowling center will be renamed Sparians @ River Bowl Charleston
More changes are afoot at the East Cooper area’s only bowling center.
A North Carolina group called Sparians has been named to manage the River Bowl & Bistro in Mount Pleasant, it was announced this week.
As part of the deal, the 16-lane bowling complex and adjoining restaurant on U.S. Highway 17 will be renamed for the second time in the past seven months. It will operate as Sparians @ River Bowl Charleston.
The new management group also operates a Sparians entertainment center in Raleigh.
“We are excited to be in the Charleston market as it is one of the top destination cities in the U.S.,” Chris Angel, managing partner, said in statement.
Originally called Twin Rivers Lanes when it opened in 1998, the Mount Pleasant entertainment complex changed hands about two years ago and underwent a major renovation starting in the fall of 2010. It was rebranded as River Bowl & Bistro late last year and is still operating under that name.
According to the new owner’s website, the term Sparians means “to spare” in Old English.
