Man in wheelchair killed by dump truck in Columbia
COLUMBIA — Police say a man in a motorized wheelchair has been struck and killed by a dump truck in Columbia.
Authorities said the man was hit Monday morning as he tried to ride across the street in the city’s Five Points restaurant and bar district near downtown.
Police were interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance video from the area to try and figure out why the turning dump truck did not stop.
The name of the victim has not been released.
