Auditor Moseley wont appeal county GOP ruling against her
Charleston County Auditor Peggy Moseley will not appeal a ruling by the local Republican Party that all three candidates in the June 12 primary were legitimate, her lawyer said today.
Attorney Sam Howell said she wanted to avoid pushing the matter into the courts.
Moseley is expected to issue a statement later this afternoon.
Moseley lost her three-way primary battle to former Mount Pleasant Town Councilman Paul Gawrych.
She filed a protest, asking the county GOP executive committee to find that Gawrych and her other primary opponent, David Engelman, were not qualified to run.
After more than two hours of hearing witnesses and deliberating in private Thursday night, the committee voted 14-7 to find both were eligible and qualified candidates.
