Sewee Nature Center announces July programs

The Sewee Visitor and Environmental Education Center at the Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge is at 5821 U.S. Highway North in Awendaw. It’s open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday. Registration is required for all programs by calling 928-3368.

ANIMAL NATURE MOVIES: For children ages 4 and up. 11 a.m. July 5, 11, 18 and 25.

Beach Nesting Birds: 3-5 p.m. July 7. Felicia Sanders, Coastal Bird Coordinator for the S.C. Department of Natural Resources, will give an overview of some shorebird and seabird nesting on undisturbed beaches and dunes, and in particular the natural history, population level, conservation status and research focus of the American oystercatcher and Wilson’s plover.

Salt Marsh Touch Tank and Discussion: 2-3 p.m. July 14. The Sewee staff brings the pluff mud, cord grass, blue crab, periwinkle snails and much more.
