BRASWELL COLUMN: New ticket package for PGA Championship on sale at 10 a.m. Monday

A new four-day ticket package for the 2012 PGA Championship is expected to sell out quickly when it becomes available at 10 a.m. Monday.

The tournament is issuing 500 packages at $500 each for the event that will be played Aug. 9-12 at Kiawah Island Golf Resort's Ocean Course. Each package contains a daily grounds ticket for each of the tournament's four rounds.

Roger Warren, president of Kiawah Island Golf Resort and general chairman of the 2012 PGA Championship, said the tickets were made available by reallocating tickets that previously had been reserved for private sales and hospitality.

Tickets can be purchased by calling 1-800-742-4653 or online at PGA2012.com, beginning at 10 a.m. Monday. Tickets for the Monday-Wednesday practice rounds also are available.

Hirai wins Jimmy Self
Reona Hirai of Summerville shot 70-70—140 and won the Jimmy Self Junior Festival of Flowers tournament at Greenwood Country Club by two shots over Taylor Ann Dodson of Aiken. Kelli Murphy of Elgin finished third in the girls division with a score of 146, while Katelyn Dambaugh of Goose Creek was fourth at 147.

Trevor Phillips of Inman won the boys division in a playoff with Jonathan Hardee of Greer after the two tied at 139 in regulation. Andrew Novak of Mount Pleasant was third with a two-day total of 142.

Laydon team falls in final
Matt Laydon of Charleston and Chris Mitchell of Prosperity lost, 1-down, to Walt Todd of Laurens and Brandon Truesdale of Camden in the South Carolina Golf Association Four-Ball Championship played at The Patriot Golf Club in Ninety Six.

Legend Oaks wins Interclub match

Legend Oaks Golf Club posted a score of 36 points to win the Charleston Area Men's Interclub Golf Association match played at Legend Oaks. Charleston Municipal was second with 31 points and Berkeley finished third with 24 points. Denny Miller of Charleston Municipal was the top individual with 12 points. Fred Hyde of Charleston National was second with 11 and Jim Buzon of Wescott and Billy Jarrell of Crowfield tied for third with 9.

Stono Ferry leads the yearly standings with 68 points, followed by: Wescott, 66.5; Pine Forest, 59.5; Dunes West, 56.5; and Shadowmoss, 54.5
