Flybuoy leads going into last day
Rough weather kept most of the participants in port Friday and tightened the Charleston boat Flybuoys grasp on first place in the rich Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament in Morehead City, N.C.
Sixty-three of the 120 boats in the tournament will have one final opportunity to fish today in an effort to overtake Flybuoy, which boated a 499.3-pound blue marlin on Monday. Flybuoy has already used its allotted four days of fishing. Fishing hours today are 8 a.m.-2 p.m., and all boats must be back to the dock by 7 p.m.
The tournament purse is $1,252,950. Only two boats have weighed blue marlin this year. Should the current standings hold, Flybuoy would win $496,710 while second-place Inspiration, with a 437.7-pound blue marlin caught Tuesday, would win $212,640.
