Traffic stop leads to arrest of James Island man on drug charges
A James Island man was arrested on drug charges after Charleston police smelled marijuana during a traffic stop.
Kenneth Allen Smalls, 25, was pulled over about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at White Drive and Wantoot Boulevard for not using a turn signal, a report stated.
An officer asked Smalls to step out of the vehicle after smelling marijuana coming from the driverís side.
Police reportedly confiscated 445 grams of marijuana and almost $1,200 in cash.
Smalls was charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and possession with the intent to distribute within close proximity of a school.
He was held in the Al Cannon Detention Center.
