Charleston police seek armed robbery suspect
Charleston police are searching for a man that robbed a woman while she was checking her mail, police spokesman Charles Francis said.
The robbery happened shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday when a 20-year-old woman was walking away from her mailbox in front of her apartment at 1735 Ashley Hall Road, an incident report stated.
A man approached her with a gun and asked for her tan and leather bag that reportedly contained papers, a cell phone and shorts.
The woman told police she was holding boots and keys that the suspect grabbed and threw to the ground.
The suspect ran around the woman’s apartment building and toward Ashley Hall Road, the report said.
The suspect was reportedly described as a black male in his late teens or early twenties, a little under 6 feet tall, wearing a bright red T-shirt and jeans.
