From shrimp and grits to duck confit sandwiches, Charleston is every foodie’s dream come true. But navigating the food scene with a maze of restaurants, bakeries and bistros on every corner is time-consuming.

To help you spend more time eating and less time searching for the best spots, we’ve compiled (and tested!) seven free food-finding apps, from delivery service to gourmet offerings.

Visiting Charleston? There’s an app for that. Designed by The Post and Courier’s weekly entertainment magazine specifically for Holy City visitors, the Charleston Scene app includes search options for food, places to stay, nightlife, shopping and other activities such as golf or art galleries. There’s even a map feature that shows shortcuts through the downtown area like a true Charlestonian.

This startup company is taking off in cities around the globe because it mixes photos with location-based technology while keeping the interface simple. Plus, you can upload all those Instagram and Camera+ photos you keep taking at every meal and share your dish picks with other Foodspotters.

For a quick meal on-the-go or a night in, GrubHub will find all nearby take-out and delivery options. You can even order online. The only catch? You’ll need to know your current address so delivery distance can be accurately measured.

Yelp’s user-friendly interface offers real-time reviews for dining. Our favorite feature is the street view, a location-based option that pins nearby spots through your phone or tablet’s camera viewfinder. Have a craving? Search by dish, such as “mac ’n’ cheese.”
