Piccolo Spoleto wrapped up Saturday; the Spoleto Festival ends today. Before you throw away those programs and scrapbook those ticket stubs, pack a picnic, lather your kids in sunscreen and head to Middleton Place for the Spoleto Festival Finale.

There are many facets of this finale that make for a family-friendly event. Middleton Place, 65 acres set on the Ashley River, provides the perfect backdrop for a family picnic. Your kids can gaze at the majestic oaks, traipse through the gardens and settle along the river for an afternoon of sunshine.

As the day settles into night, enjoy the sweet sounds of The Local Honeys, The Royal Tinfoil, Valerie June and Cedric Watson & Bijou Creole.

A cheeky girl group with an Americana vibe, The Local Honeys will surely get the party started and put the rhythm in your kids’ toes. The zydeco stylings of Watson & Bijou Creole, the evening’s headliner, is yet another chance to introduce your kids to a different genre of music.

If none of this sounds tantalizing enough, then the promise of post-concert fireworks should do the trick. As with every Spoleto Festival, a spectacular display will close the festivities.

RECOMMENDATION: Cedric Watson & Bijou Creole Festival Finale. Gates open at 3:30 p.m., finale concert begins at 8:30, Middleton Place, 4300 Ashley River Road.
