Sunday night at the Emmett Robinson Theater, Mike Daisey made more waves after his “Agony and Ecstasy” monologue than he did during the show.
After wrapping up his two-hour, no-intermission performance, Daisey revealed that he would be offering a new monologue on Wednesday that is not listed in any of the printed Spoleto Festival material.
He was originally scheduled to perform “Teching in India,” a monologue based on his five-city tour across the Indian subcontinent.
Apparently, he changed his mind.
“I will be performing a brand new monologue because I have a more compelling story to tell that’s more recent,” he said.
The news came as a surprise to those, including festival organizers, expecting Daisey to stick to the script.
