Children’s corner

Last week, Children’s Corner alerted you to the programming at the Charleston County Library. The series continues with fairy tale standards and exciting foreign music.

On Tuesday, the sky will fall, at least in the make-believe world of “Chicken Little.” Porkchop Productions’ adaptation of this literary classic is designed for elementary school kids and includes audience participation, a great way to get your child interested in the stage.

On Wednesday, Taiko Charleston will showcase Japanese drumming suitable for the whole family — another opportunity to introduce your child to art forms of different cultures, and the dynamic musical experience will captivate the budding percussionist in your family.

Finally, on Thursday, the series will conclude with a puppet production of “Hansel and Gretel.” In the hands of the Columbia Marionette Theatre, puppetry comes alive. Enter a world of candy and fantasy as Hansel and Gretel battle a witch with a particularly cruel appetite.
