Two arrested in meth lab bust at Summerville motel
Authorities have arrested two people in connection with a meth lab bust at a Summerville motel early Saturday.
Capt. Jon Rogers with Summerville Police Department said police responded to a call around 9:30 a.m. about a stolen cellphone and when officers arrived, they smelled chemicals in a room at the Economy Inn on Holiday Drive.
A meth lab was confirmed, and authorities arrested Kimberly Cox and Jeremy Hapsan, both of Summerville and in their early 30s, Rogers said.
A motel employee also confirmed the arrest a short while later at the inn, which is just off Interstate 26 in Berkeley County.
The man and woman who were arrested were hosed down outside, as is standard procedure, Rogers said.
The two have been charged with manufacturing methamphetamines and will be taken to the detention center in Berkeley County, Rogers said.
