College of Charleston slugger Marty Gantt named to Louisville Slugger All-American team
College of Charleston senior Marty Gantt has been named a Louisville Slugger third-team All-American, the Collegiate Baseball newspaper announced today.
Gantt, a center fielder from North Augusta, is batting .375 with 64 runs scored, ranked 12th in the nation. He was also named Southern Conference player of the year, and ranks among SoCon leaders in walks (43), on-base percentage (.485), doubles (19), stolen bases (25) and slugging percentage (.612).
Gantt was also selected as a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Award, given to the top amateur player in the country.
The Cougars take on Georgia Tech at 1 p.m. Friday in the Gainesville regional of the NCAA tournament at the University of Florida’s McKethan Stadium.
