The Mount Pleasant Track Club hosted the ninth annual Track Invitational on May 19, with more than 750 athletes and 12 teams from all over the state.
The track club is preparing to compete in the Junior Olympic USATF state meet June 8-10 in Myrtle Beach and is vying for its eighth straight state title. The state meet is the qualifier for the Junior Olympic USATF region meet to be held July 6-8 in Newport News, Va.
Region 3 comprises South Carolina, North Carolina, Maryland, Georgia, Virginia and the District of Columbia. The top five at the region meet advance to nationals in Baltimore on July 23-29.
With more than 276 athletes, MPTC has the largest team in the state. The following are the individual champions representing MPTC in each age group:
Sub-Bantam Girls (8 and under): Ally Dominiak (800 meters, 3:14.6), (1500m, 6:43.2), Ginger Arnold (javelin, 9.75m)
