2 men charged in unrelated burglaries

Charleston police have charged two men in unrelated burglaries that happened last month and earlier this month.

Samuel Maurice Davis, 23, of 2626 Sal Lane,North Charleston, is suspected of a break-in and thefts May 8 on Nunan Street. Davis is charged with second-degree burglary and grand larceny and is being held in the Cannon Detention Center, Charleston police spokesman Charles Francis said.

He said Davis is accused of entering an apartment and taking office equipment, computer software, a television, an Xbox gaming console and video games. The investigation is ongoing, Francis said.

Francis said investigators probing an April 23 break-in to a shed at a Parsons Court residence arrested Leroy Devon Grant, 26, of 2017 Rosehaven St. He was arrested Saturday and is charged with second-degree burglary and property crime enhancement. He is being held in the Cannon Detention Center.

According to the victim, someone took eight fishing poles, a drill and a tree climber from the shed. Investigators who gathered information and evidence were able to link Davis to the crime, Francis said.
