Hirai beats Cody by 2 in Chick Miler
SUMMERVILLE — Around 170 golfers battled wind and firm conditions during the three-day Chick Miler Invitational at Summerville Country Club, and on Sunday Kamito Hirai edged Austin Cody by two strokes to capture championship flight honors.
Kamito, who has placed in the top three the past two tournaments, scored a 214 total, to beat out Cody (216), Lushen Evans (218), Bill Smunk (218), James Phillips (219) and Andy Jianoukos (220).
Rounding out the top 10 were: Mike Moseley (221), Terence Jenkins (221), Mike Wilson (222), and Jim Mutispaugh (222).
Flight winners were: Tadd Brown (first flight, 220), David Bordiuk (second, 233), Mark Shaughnessy (third, 237), Scott Hutcherson (fourth, 238), Jack Williams (fifth, 251), Rick Parish (sixth, 254), Paul Edwards (seventh, 259), Brian Brookshire (eighth, 272), and Wesley Gregg (ninth, 282).
Three holes-in-one were scored during the tournament, all on No. 15, by Mike Zokel, David Alexander and Chris Asbell.
