Authorities said Thursday they have made an arrest in a killing at a nightclub in the Cross community, and are expecting to make additional arrests.

Detron Lamont Giles, 32, of Wells Drive in St. Stephen is charged with murder and is being held without bail at the Hill-Finklea Detention Center, Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Dan Moon said.

Giles is accused of shooting to death Kiron Jenkins, 30, of Pineville about 3:30 a.m. Sunday at The Zone nightclub at 529 County Line Road, Moon said.

Witnesses told deputies that Jenkins had an altercation with another person before the shooting. Moon said many details of the investigation are being withheld for now.

Sheriff’s Capt. Rick Ollic said additional arrests are expected.
