Deputies look for witnesses to fatal shooting outside Cross club
Dozens of people were present when a 30-year-old man was fatally shot outside a Cross nightclub early Sunday, Berkeley County investigators said.
Kiron Jenkins of Pineville died of a gunshot wound to the abdomen after the incident around 3:15 a.m. at The Zone on County Line Road. Jenkins is a father and an employee of Santee Cooper, he said on Facebook.
An argument over “unknown circumstances” led to gunfire in the club’s parking lot, according to an incident report.
Jenkins’ uncle loaded him into a Ford SUV and started driving from the scene. But he flagged down responding deputies as he sped down County Line Road, the report says.
After paramedics took Jenkins, the uncle showed deputies where the shooting happened.
“There were a lot of people there,” said Capt. Rick Ollic of the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office. “There should be quite a few witnesses to it.”
The club wasn’t equipped with outside surveillance cameras, Ollic said.
Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111 or the sheriff’s office at 719-4412.
