Former Clemson football player killed in motorcycle crash
CLEMSON - Former Clemson wide receiver and Spartanburg native Brian Wofford died Friday in a motorcycle crash in Moore. The crash occurred around 11:15 a.m. when he collided with a car at an intersection, according to the Spartanburg Herald-Journal.
Wofford was the leader of the Spartanburg parks system and a former standout receiver at Spartanburg High, leading the school to a state title in 1995.
He ranks in the top 15 in Clemson history in receptions, yards and touchdown catches.
Wofford and Rod Gardner formed one of the program’s best receiving corps of all time in 1999, when Clemson set 26 school records on offense.
Wofford was wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to reports. The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
