Coast Guard to hold safe boating week event tomorrow
Coast Guard officials and partner agencies will hold a free safe boating week event tomorrow at Mount Pleasant Waterfront Park from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Officials with Coast Guard Station Charleston, Coast Guard Auxiliary, S.C. Department of Natural Resources, Charleston County Rescue Squad and police and fire departments from Isle of Palms, Mount Pleasant, Charleston and North Charleston will answer questions about boating safety and regulations. The event comes as part of National Safe Boating Week, an annual Coast Guard awareness campaign.
The week reminds mariners of the importance of safety equipment aboard vessels, including life jackets and communication equipment. It also highlights the benefits of owning an Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon.
