Charleston police looking for shooting suspect Eric A. Wigfall, 22
Police are looking for a man accused of firing shots Thursday in West Ashley.
The shots missed their intended target, a man walking on Wantoot Boulevard, Charleston police spokesman Charles Francis said.
A warrant has been issued charging Eric A. Wigfall, 22, of 1625 Samuel Road, James Island, with second-degree assault and battery. Police are asking the public’s help in finding him, Francis said.
He said the shooting happened about 4:20 p.m., when Wigfall allegedly approached the man on Wantoot Boulevard, in the Sherwood Forest subdivision. A confrontation ensued, and Wigfall pulled out a gun and fired several shots at the man, whose name was not released.
No one was injured. Investigators who gathered information at the crime scene were able to identify Wigfall as the gunman, Francis said.
Wigfall is described in Cannon Detention Center documents as black and 5 feet, 11 inches tall. Anyone with information about Wigfall or the shooting can call police at 577-7434 or Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
