The James Island connector reopened to traffic bound for downtown Charleston an hour and a half after a pickup crash this afternoon.

The wreck was reported about 12:04 p.m. between the Lockwood Drive and S.C. Highway 61 exits. A pickup had rolled over several times and landed upright in the road.

Traffic toward downtown was diverted onto the Highway 61 exit until about 1:45 p.m.

An emergency vehicle blocked a single lane of traffic toward James Island, but vehicles were moving steadily in that direction.

One person was transported by ambulance to Medical University Hospital, Charleston Police Department spokesman Charles Francis said.

It’s not known what caused the wreck.
