No. 3 South Carolina falls to Georgia in 10 innings
Georgia 6, No. 3 USC 5 (10)
Athens, Ga. — Despite a four-run rally from No. 3 South Carolina in the ninth to send the game to extra innings, Georgia pulled out a 6-5 win in SEC baseball Saturday.
The Bulldogs’ Joey Delmonico had an RBI single to left-center in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift Georgia (29-22, 13-13 SEC).
South Carolina (38-13, 17-9) faces Georgia again at 2 p.m. today.
Trailing 5-1 entering the top of the ninth, the Gamecocks stormed back to tie it at 5, highlighted by LB Dantzler’s game-tying two-run double off the wall.
In the 10th, Peter Verdin singled and stole second before moving to third on a groundout. That set the stage for Delmonico.
