Patti McGee honored for horticultural preservation and education
Patti McGee, a founding member of the Charleston Horticultural Society, has been named by the Garden Club of America as a 2012 Honorary Member. McGee is being honored because of her efforts to advance horticulture.
“We are incredibly proud of Patti and her accomplishments and want to make sure the city of Charleston knows what a treasured and valuable resource she is to the gardening and horticultural community,” says Kyle Barnette, society executive director.
McGee was presented with the honor at the gardening organization’s annual meeting, held in Savannah in April.
“Whether welcoming visitors to her own garden, or receiving an award for advancing the work of horticulture and historic preservation, Patti’s charm and deep conviction for horticultural preservation and garden design make an impact,” says Jessie Shelburne the club’s awards chairman.
McGee’s work is represented in the Smithsonian’s Archives of American Gardens.
