Bishop England blans Wade Hampton in girls soccer
The Bishop England girls continued to roll in the Class AA-A state soccer playoffs with a 4-0 victory over Wade Hampton on Friday at Jack Cantey Stadium.
It marked the Bishops’ third straight shutout in the playoffs, but that streak will be severely tested in Monday’s Lower State Championship against Academic Magnet, the team that knocked the Bishops from the Class AA throne last spring.
The Bishops were in control against Wade Hampton, taking 36 shots to Wade Hampton’s seven.
The Bishops also held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The Bishops got on the board in the 32nd minute when Molly Moriarty scored an unassisted goal. Five minutes later, Julia Shahid made it 2-0 on an assist by Taylor Lott.
Moriarty scored her second goal of the night on a penalty kick.
Hailey Ohlinger scored in the final minutes of the match.
Julianne Dahlman had five saves to record the shutout.
