Teacher charged in touching incident
A Dorchester County teacher is accused making inappropriate comments to, and inappropriately touching, a 14-year-old student.
William Albert Brown, 49, of Summerville, was charged Friday with second-degree assault and criminal solicitation of a minor, Dorchester County sheriff’s Maj. John Garrison said.
He said deputies received a call about a Dubose Middle School teacher making inappropriate comments to one of his female students. Investigators uncovered the additional information that the student was actually touched by the teacher in an inappropriate manner, Garrison said.
After conducting several interviews and consulting the 1st Circuit Solicitors Office, sheriff’s investigators arrested Brown at his residence without incident. He was being held at the Dorchester County Jail Annex.
The matter is still under investigation, Garrison said.
