Lacrosse tournament starts Saturday in Mount Pleasant
Mount Pleasant has been one of the hot spots as the sport of lacrosse continues to grow in this state, and this weekend the Palmetto Shootout comes to town, drawing 32 teams to the third annual event.
Hosted by the Mount Pleasant Lacrosse Club and the Mount Pleasant Recreation Department, the Palmetto Shootout hosts teams in the under-9 through U15 age divisions, including girls.
The competition will be held at Park West recreation fields and at Cario Middle School.
The action takes place Saturday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and on Sunday from 9 a.m. -3 p.m.
Joining area select teams will be squads from Savannah, Hilton Head, Myrtle Beach, Columbia, Beaufort and Greenville.
Approximately 180 area players make up the nine Charleston-area teams participating in the 32-team event.
