Citadel to hold fund-raiser for wrestling coach who had kidney transplant
The Citadel’s wrestling program will hold a barbecue fundraiser next week at Johnson Hagood Stadium for associate head coach Jeff Ragan, who received a kidney transplant last month.
The fundraiser is set for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. next Wednesday (May 16) on the fourth floor club level at Johnson Hagood. The menu includes BBQ chicken, potato salad and baked beans, and meals can be taken out or eaten at the stadium. Donations will be accepted to help defray the cost of Ragan’s transplant, which took place April 4 at Medical University of South Carolina.
Ragan, who received a kidney from his brother, Brad Ragan, was an All-American at Oklahoma State. A husband and father of two, Ragan is also an adjunct math professor at The Citadel, runs the school’s math lab, and coordinates The Citadel’s summer wrestling camp. Brad Ragan is an Air Force pilot who wrestled at The Citadel.
