Lord & Evans Paints sold to Oklahoma-based Spectrum Paint
Lord & Evans Paints, a part of the Lowcountry since 1865, has been sold to an Oklahoma firm.
Spectrum Paint recently purchased the three stores in Charleston, bringing to 33 the number of shops in the Tulsa, Okla.-based firm.
“We are pleased that the stewardship of this wonderful business is now passed to only the fourth family owners over the past 147 years,” Lord & Evans President Steve Wray said.
Lord & Evans was founded as Wm. M. Bird & Co. in 1865.
“We have known Lord & Evans for a number of years and are excited about the opportunity to serve the Lowcountry with the same fine products, people, customer service and store locations they have provided in the past,” Spectrum Paints President Travis Detter said.
Spectrum Paints, owned by the Detter family, operates stores in Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, North Carolina and South Carolina. It was founded in 1986.
Lord & Evans will now operate as Spectrum Paints. All employees were retained except executive management, Wray said.
