2 Spartanburg workers charged with neglect
SPARTANBURG – Two women who work for an assisted living program in Spartanburg have been arrested after a woman was left alone for 20 hours, lying in her own waste.
Twenty-five-year-old Alyssa Bell of Spartanburg and 37-year-old Marcia Renee Jaggers of Boiling Springs are charged with neglect of a vulnerable adult.
Police say a 39-year-old woman at an assisted living center got out of her bed and fell during the Easter weekend and was not found for 20 hours.
Capt. Regina Nowak says caregivers were supposed to check on the woman every three hours.
Gerald Bernard with the Charles Lea (LEE) Center said both women have been placed on unpaid administrative leave as the center and the State Law Enforcement Division investigates.
It was not clear if the women have attorneys.
